About the project

In Jungian analysis, the image of an elevator is a multi-layered symbol representing the ascent and descent into the depths of the human psyche. An elevator moving between floors can symbolise different levels of consciousness and the unconscious, allowing us to explore our inner worlds. The lower floors represent repressed fears and unconscious impulses, while the upper floors can be associated with higher aspirations and spiritual development.

The journey in the lift is a process of integration, where each floor becomes a stage of self-discovery. If the lift gets stuck, it may indicate internal blockages or unresolved conflicts that require attention and work. The lift can also serve as a metaphor for the interconnection between individual and collective archetypes: as we descend, we encounter dark shadows, while the ascent can illuminate the path to our true essence.

The lift, as a symbol, also indicates the dynamics of change in an individual’s life. Its upward movement can signify progress, success and the achievement of personal goals. In this context, the upper floors represent moments of insight, bursts of creativity and inner harmony. It is important to note that this is not always a linear movement; sometimes it involves returning to previous levels to learn lessons that need to be learned.

As we descend into the depths, we encounter our inner conflicts and fears, which can be a source of tremendous power if we learn to integrate them. This process can be painful, but it also opens the way to healing and transformation. On the lower floors, among the shadows, we can discover hidden talents and resources that have been suppressed by fears and prejudices.

Thus, the image of the lift in Jungian analysis not only reflects inner conflicts and aspirations, but also becomes an important metaphor for life as a whole. It emphasises the need to consciously turn to oneself, accepting all aspects of one’s nature — from the light to the dark.
